Water cans and skeleton magazines
We thought we'd share the following email. Enjoy.
Hello Everyone,
Below is an email I received from my roommate and friend, Rebecca. Becca has been roughing it through the “Teach For America” program for the last two years. For those of you who don’t know about the program, (I really didn’t when I met her), it is little like the Peace Corps. She came to LA, from Northwestern University, to teach middle-school students in a rough school district, for next to nothing.
Sadly, now she is leaving LA and moving out of our house. But, she is on to do bigger and better things. She is going on a trip to see as much of the world as she possibly can, and asked her friends and family to donate a dollar (The 100 Pennies Campaign) to help her do it. I think it’s a great idea and a great cause, so I decided to pass it on to my friends and family. She's a great girl and she definitely deserves a vacation!
So, if anyone is interested, the link to her page is in the email below. If you like the idea, don't be shy to forward it to your friends as well.
Thanks!

Hello!
I wanted to write and let you know of my exciting plans for next year. I have officially retired from the Los Angeles School District after 2 years of teaching middle school English and working towards / receiving my masters in education from Loyola Marymount University. I want to go back to school for my PhD in Social Psychology, and so I am applying to schools for the fall of 2009. In the meantime, I am left 12 glorious months of possibility during which I want to travel as much as possible. I have planned several trips that I am extremely excited about - and so I created a website that has all the details for my upcoming travels.
To visit my site and read all the details of the trips I have planned and my desire to rid you of 100 pennies... go to (here). Please feel free to pass this email along to friends and coworkers - the more dollars I can gather from travel-loving fans, the better!
Thank you and enjoy!
Rebecca
